Heads are most likely cracked just from age and GM casting. If no cracks then it's worth something.
Shipping via semi freight truck is somewhat affordable still, but you have to be able to load into the back of a truck from a shipping yard and receive at a shipping yard without incurring stupid...
I think we're saying the same thing, tying into the glow plug side of the relay (side closer to the passenger side, when looking at the engine from the front it's the terminal to the left) would energize the relay with the glow plugs on. Good point on the diode to stop backfeeding to the relay...
Thanks for the input gents. @dbrannon79 Thanks for the tip on the yellow wire coming from the PCM, not an option for the '93 though. I was wondering if the '95 relay was wired differently because it was also tied to the glow plugs. I think I could achieve the wait to start feature on the '93 by...
@jrsavoie the '95 is Leroy's. That's what has me somewhat confused, it's not wired "normally" but functions as intended.
Sounds like I can trigger from the glow plugs too to get pre start prime if you did the same and keep my wiring standard. Still don't understand how Leroy's works with the...
I know this subject has been covered before, but wanted to share my own adventure if for anything else to have a reference online for when I lose my notes
So on the 1993 dump truck that is nearing completion, I wanted to do the lift pump relay for obvious reasons. The previous owner had also...
For the 6.5 crowd the mechanical is more desirable. However for the average consumer I'd think the '95 with the "newer" looking interior compared to the '93 dash and cluster could be perceived as more aesthetic and preferable. But that's incredibly subjective. Same for the ABS/ lack thereof on...
I coincidentally wrote to the ebay seller of bare blocks in Virginia a week or so ago just out of curiosity to see where they are cast. I was told that the supplier of the blocks is Canadian, but that they are cast in Mexico. Was curious if anyone on here had ever seen one in person, I also...
tagging @n8in8or and @Big T as I think they own the reamers in question
If this is for your '95 that likely has the stamped steel LCAs, I'd recommend swapping them out to the GMT800 LCAs. The turning radius is better with the forged GMT400 lowers or GMT800 LCAs, but the advantage of swapping to...
I haven't been able to get mine to stop leaking out the bottom where the pitman arm attaches but maybe I put in a seal backwards, it's been a few years. The most maddening part of re-assembly was feeding those steel balls in along the worm gear shaft. They kept falling out so I eventually put in...
@MrMarty51 the only incompatibilities of a Dodge vs GM NV4500 that I'm aware of are the differences in input and output shafts as described above. In addition to the input shafts being different diameters I think the lengths are different too. So getting a custom clutch disc wouldn't change the...
A NV4500 is a direct bolt in. Granted you'll have to add a clutch pedal and master cylinder but all the dimples are in the firewall for drilling out and converting.
You'll want a GM NV4500, the dodge has a different size input shaft and different output spline count.
There's two GM NV4500...
Thanks so much for sharing the details. How did you remove the tone ring for the output shaft? Regular two or 3 jaw puller? I remember there was a fellow on here a couple years ago struggling to rebuild the same unit and he couldn't seem to be able to remove the ring or read that to disassemble...
Thank you for the figures Will and for others chiming in. The "other source" is simply a fellow on marketplace selling heating oil likely sourced from people converting to propane or electric heat pumps. Lots of folks nearly giving away the stuff, saying come and get it but you have to pump it...
Did you put on new drums or re use the old ones without turning them down? A very out of round drum could potentially hang/ lock up quicker where it's more oval/ flat
Have you tried just backing out the adjuster a tad to see if that side is tighter than the other?
Given how much conflicting misinformation is on the internet, I wanted to ask the crowd here, in particular our residential fuel expert @Will L.
To be clear, I am asking only about use in farm and off road construction equipment. Dyed fuel in on road applications is illegal and not endorsed...
Yes I've heard of the pump rub issue on the cases that were on the 800 series trucks. I have the Sonnax split ring retainer upgrade on the 241 in my pickup, didn't know it was called a case saver. Thanks for the clarification
Case saver mod? Care to elaborate?
Is this a NP241 case or a BW4401? A little while ago there was a fellow on here struggling to disassemble a 4401. Seems parts are pretty hard to find for them. Thankfully the 241s are plentiful
No, you won't need the rivets. Reason being they are larger than your standard pop riven gun and buying the right size gun is prohibitively expensive. Re- install the regulator with either self tapping screws or stainless nuts and bolts. Think I went the stainless option but may not be necessary...
