Half hitch works.
Dally is just different, two wrap around and one through instead of one wrap around pipe and two through to secure.
Just using a ratchet strap allows the force needed when by yourself.
@Big T
on the 5 word thread you said needing to hammer in pipe so second person-
Nope. Get a ratchet strap. Dally the short strap over one end (the side that isn’t going to move). Primer, glue, pull into the lip by hand, then dally paint he other end of strap on the pipe and ratchet it...
I see no point in replacing a pump under warranty with one you buy.
And there are enough people building new ds4 now that is squashed the worry of none being available afaik.
Run the two year warranty pump, and if there’s a problem, you have them replace it.
As to going along effort for long-term preservation of a pump, just disconnect the fuel hose on the engine and feed it some 10 weight straight oil if not available, 30 weight compressor oil I believe is a simple...
Over on hummernetworkforums.com a guy with 6.5TD centermount engine is for sale.
He blew a head gasket, one head toast, other one cracking between valves could be brass sleeved and ran 100k or so. The block is a May 99 so supposedly latest version GM ever made.
You’d have to verify cylinder...
It’s hard for me to not promote the db2 every time I can. But already having the tooling, scanner, know-how etc means 90% of your pain is done.
My friend Charles says: The enemy of good is better. If I had listened to that advice years ago my hummer would have been on the road long ago.
imo talk to a few folks more knowledgeable about the ds4 before making the jump.
@Rockabillyrat and John @ Quadstar come to mind. I learned enough to be dangerous with the ds4 & where most of my time with them was at, down time of the truck was way more expensive than cost of an ip & labor...
The reflection blocks temperature gauge so can’t tell there but low coolant light scares me.
Every thing else looks good.
The smoke on start up looks like oil which is indicating tired rings that maybe got heated up a bit too much if not high mileage. Maybe valve guides letting oil past. If...
No aeration before ip hut has it afterwards means it is the ip. If this is an old ip, you can try snugging up the screws you can get to & cross your fingers.
Most likely it’s the pump entering its death bed.
For you or anyone else needing a diesel compression tester:
Working with one a lot is worth the cost of a high quality unit. Doing it once every few years imo get harbor freight.
Here’s the bonus if you been wanting one but haven’t yet.
Right now the basic kit which does have the adapter...
The more rare thing here is the teamwork seen. As Denata pointed out doing his cinder block work: working alone is jot just hard but takes a long time to get some things accomplished. Putting the work in early to teach the next generation how to properly jump in and do it… that is the real...
Gm says 2nd place for clear hose is between ffm & ip. If you get air after ip but none before- ip is the problem.
Ive said before if I could I would use clear 100% of the way tank to ip & back IF the clear tube could withstand the pressure and rubbing and was rated as fuel hose like the stuff...
No one wants to weld it because any fair price will sound really high. The clean up time for cast aluminum to be welded sucks. Welding the crack will require drilling the hole again & resurfacing it.
Contaminated cast aluminum is a pain to weld, so a guy could easily find a full day’s shift...
Be extremely careful where you buy injectors (or most any part for these). There is more junk out there than good stuff.
Injectors on these engines are best changed or rebuilt at 100,000 miles. You can get away with more but it’s really hard on it.
There’s a gamit of stuff to test.
You...
Welcome Woolydogg.
Lots of knowledge & helpful folks here.
Please fill out the signature line with the truck and any modifications made, Marty’s is a great example. It really helps as people read through to keep track of details.
The biggest problem with ssdiesel is that he won’t honor any warranty.
False advertisement of how well something fixes a problem when it’s just another version of similar issue.
As to an ip he had rebuilt & marked up the profit on: he probably didn’t have anything to do with the rebuilding of...
Dave, a guybthat owned Blue Hummer used to sell them. He sold his company and I am still surprised no one else sells them loose for that.
Dave just sealed the back side with silicone after removing the wires. Kept it water tight & clean. Maybe Leroy should replace his sold off hmmwv add with...
Do we still not have anyone balancing injectors listed here? @Rockabillyrat are you up & running yet?
BE LEARY OF MOST INJECTORS ONLINE. Cheap Chinese ones die really short lives. Under just the wrong conditions a bad injector can ruin a piston.
The ones Leroy sells are good, but they are...
