How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Driving it is a good motivator to keep the 6.2 awesomeness Blazer running. Like eating McDonalds- 50% of the reason is to remind you why you don’t do it more often.😂

    Motorhome Lift Pump

Just keep an eye on that fuel pressure. Be safe & have fun… not necessarily in that order.😂

4L80E slipping in first then not shifting

If you have a cooling loop that is in your unknown xfer case- it can be failed leaking into the case. You can have bad mount since pushing up on it eases a sound that shouldn’t be there. This could warp the trans case, or flex the worm tracks. If the case is married instead of a divorce mount...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The weep hole is because coolant is getting into the front bearing. At some point the bearing will seize up. I have never seen a belt break first- it’s always been the shaft to the fan shears off. Congratulations, you have a 20” ninja star spinning a few thousand rpm. KISS anything on the...

4L80E slipping in first then not shifting

There are a few variables at play here. Fill out signature line with what kind vehicle, what transfer case, any modifications done. Seems like it would all be the same but isn’t, so this matters.

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

Yeah- I understand that. My health fight isn’t as rough as yours right now, and I can’t seem to find anyone mechanically inclined unless they are really good and charge way more than I can pay.

Use a van engine in a truck

Yeah- thats a nice set up for it. You also have to get the oil block off plate & seal for where the centermount turbo normally is. The van/hummer/hmmwv intake manifold doesn’t flow as well as the truck lower or hummer n/a intake. Idk if @Twisted Steel Performance has the flow numbers handy...

    Motorhome Lift Pump

As to the recall- that was for the ds4 ip, not the LP (Lift pump). Basically GM pinched pennies and only cared about the ip making it out of warranty. Only one on 25,000 would get a new LP installed. Almost no one ever actually put a pressure gauge on it after a new LP is installed so the...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Looks right to me. I wouldn’t worry a ton about run a timing chain instead of the gear set Leroy sold. The chain is ok, gears are a convince factor if you aren’t running a massive lift camshaft or rocker arms. A speedi sleeve is a super thin cylindrical pipe that fits over the crankshaft...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

With the V groove belt system-(not serpentine belt) You can ignore the comments about balanced flow and specific exact part numbers. AC Delco or Gates were both good choices. Stay away from flow cooler. You do want one that says “H.O.” High Output. More flow the better in these puppies. I...

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

WAY MORE than a normal aftermarket like what Nate posted above. DIY then it’s just labor & a few bucks for material.

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

That’s when ya ask yourself- do you like metal work or wood work more…

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

I’m usually big on torque specs- but thats always been 3 ugga-duggas or if no air compressor one long rrrrrrrgggghhhhh on a long ratchet.

    96 timing issue possibly

Start with the grounds after wiggle test.

    My new garage.

Here the rebar (reenforcement bar) would be rigged into it’s location and pour the concrete around it. By cutting the concrete, adding it, then pouring over, the rigidity isn’t as strong because it ow relies on the adhesion of the two.

    1999 Vortec 350

Yup. And if you guys paid attention to builds where guys share the information (n8in8or comes to mind) and anyone wanting any performance advances cam and ignition timing. How his video showed slack at 90,000 miles- that is how much slack is in a 6.5 chain by 40,000 miles. High compression...

    New Injection Pump Shelf Life

I wouldn’t do a db2 conversion to eliminate problems and not buy a brand new one. Last I saw the trans controller is $600. You don’t need the rare 96 crossover. If you find one great, otherwise look at the link in my signature. You can accomplish the same thing with that, a couple diy...

    New Injection Pump Shelf Life

The test fluid is supposed to be a far less flammable oil and I would guess nothing that evaporates easily since we have known gasoline to leave not happy residue behind even before they required our fuels to become alcoholics. Afaik only the db2 has hardened parts made for the arctic pumps...
