    6.5TD motorhome starting problem

Ok- the lift pump isn’t doing the greatest, but should not in any way be a problem. You measured the pressure AT THE INJECTION PUMP INLET, right? Anywhere else is invalid for the diagnostics. Let that fuel settle for a day and examine it. Looking for any contamination to settle out on the...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

You have to flip the coin about as is vs rip apart. Then do it. Don’t buy anything, don’t borrow anything. Rip it apart and go from there. The only thing I would do before ripping apart is the water down the intake trick to clean out any carbon that is there first. That will do in couple...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

Yes for this situation you could file the lands- but I seriously doubt that will be needed. Road draft is your call. Experiment and see

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

Yes the rings will seat- not as quickly as they should, but they will. In the drawing above we he dotted lines were the original cylinder walls. The wavy lines are what the worn cylinder currently is. If you use a 3 stone hone, you cut away the wavy part inside the solid lines. The idea is...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

6.2. Vs 6.5 differences- oil pan, crankshaft, pistons, cylinder diameter, rear main seal, injectors. Then like always- the exterior accessories can be all over the place. As for truing up the cylinder walls with a flat stone- that is what a 3 stone cylinder hone is for. The problem with it...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

If you pull the pan and pop open rod caps- looking for obvious damage/ wear and can use plastigauge as a clue - then MAYBE rod bearings can help. You don’t have to undo the main caps for that. But I can’t remember doing it all in a pickup. I’ve done it in a hmmwv and a RV. They don’t have a...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

My opinion is a cracked block isn’t reliable enough for driving across country, Or in weather that if you break down you could die. Outside of that- run it till it grenades. It doesn’t do any good to replace earlier if you don’t have the cash for a new one and not get all the miles possible...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Yup. Thats looks like them to me. You can have them re-use the metal part of the lines or you can remove those flare adapters and just use regular fittings and route the houses as you see fit trying to keep the hose away from the hot exhaust as much as possible and in a way that follows the...

    96 timing issue possibly

The optic sensor and the cps work in conjunction with each other to smooth everything out. With one or the other good, it will be a hard start but will start & run. Doesn’t run great. But if you unplug one and the other is still in and it never starts or stops running- that shows the one...

    96 timing issue possibly

The way to figure it out is just disconnect the optic and leave it that way for a couple days worth of driving. When it acts up again if it does same thing but still runs then it aint the cps. If the engine dies or won’t start, then its the cps

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The two hoses that come out of the engine by the oil filter as described - There are replacements that are factory you can buy but many have not had good runs with these aftermarket hoses. My recommendation is to take multiple pictures of them in place so you can reinstall them later properly...

    Custom build headers

Basically anyone considering it should check out their videos, website, etc. Not just headers, full exhaust, roll bars, roof racks, etc. they have a lot of learning tips on their videos.

    Custom build headers

A few of us have made headers at some point. Incredible tedious. Time to look at the lowest cost kit how to make everything fit I have seen yet. Also would work for custom exhaust if they have the sizes available… https://www.centurialinc.com/exhaust-tech/starter-kit

    6.5TD motorhome starting problem

So the spec shown shows the EP158 as a max pressure of 14psi. That is the one myself and many others have been recommending as the best version of this POOR design. I’d bet there is many people here that ran the EP158 and I also bet there is not two who said it held 14 psi for more than 4...

My 93 having a mysterious tapping or knocking under acceleration that comes and goes

It’s running on a tired old engine that isn’t gonna be running a lot longer. Leave it be and move on. If you can time it a little better- cool, otherwise let it ride. Flow charts available:
