Hi Folks,
We deserve awards for the patience we have with these trucks to say the least.
A gremlin continues to baffle me with this vehicle and truly makes it an adventure to go anywhere far from home with it. When running it is delightful and performs well.
First the vehicle: 1996...
Hi All,
I am looking to add a couple of switchs to my 1996 6.5 K2500 Suburban. I am thinking about re-purposing the cargo lamp switch from the same era pickup trucks (GMC/Chevrolet) and adding a fog light switch installed in the verticle spot on the RS of the dash.
Does anyone have...
Any one have any back flushing tips in vehicle with rear heat. How do you get the tap water completely out before refilling with distiller water and dexcool?
On a 1996 Suburban how do you remove the courtesy lamp lenses to replace the bulbs without breaking them. I thought I would ask before I start prying! Does the lens come off or does the whole assembly pop out? These are the lights on the two rear doors.
Hi all,
Just had a pucker experience backing up the 96 diesel K1500 Suburban when the pedal goes straight to the floor. Rusted line..big shock. Has anyone ordered and installed the complete pre bent SS line from Classic Tube in Buffalo NY? I am not looking forward to this job as everything is...
Hi All,
If I disconnect the batteries on my '96 Suburban for service I understand that I will need to enter a radio code to get the radio to work again.
1) is this the case?
2) i do not have the code so how can I avoid a trip to the dealer for this one?
3) do we have resource on the site...
Government needs to get out of our lives!
Why the hell should we let the fed tell us what has to be done? We should be telling them to get out of the way so can compete! Screw the government. Now that GM is Government Motors we will probably see the Silverado renamed the Barak and it will...
Hi All,
I should be billing GM for my "engineering" time as I redo the fuel supply side of our 96 6.5 Suburban.
Has anyone used the AC-Delco Lift pump part # EP 1000? I spoke with Ac-Delco in MI today and they told me this is speced at 8-12PSI @ 13.5 volts (+/- 1 volt) and flows 21 GPH...

Calarfication on OPS Relay Modification
This thread seems to be revolving around pre 1996 trucks.
I have a 1996 OBD II K2500 Suburban with the 6.5 and will be replacing the OPS as a maintenance item. Since the PCM controls the LP in addition to the OPS is there anything to be gained...
Hi Folks,
I have resigned myself to re-engineer the fuel delivery system on our 1996 K2500 6.5 Suburban the way GM SHOULD have done it. With that said after starting with a "leaking" return line over the rear wheel frame arch that translated into replaing the fuel tank...the fuel sender...new...
Hi Great White,
Excellent picture and nice work. We must be from a similar tree as they say. My idea, (these are usually way over engineered) was to go with the racor filter on the vacum side... plumbed behind the lift pump.
The more I thought about it it seemed that the issue would be...
PSI Issue at IP
Hi Great White,
Did you measure your PSI at the filter manager before fuel went to the IP? I am thinking you lose PSI throug the factory filter (~30%) with a clean newly installed filter.
Great point about the seals as I am not looking for an IP blow out.
I am thinking...
Hi All,
Thinking about replacing the half assed factory installed lift pump with this Air Dog unit to solve factory poor design fueling issues once and for all. I am also adding the new thicker design FSD to my remote mounted cooler which currently has an oem style PMD mounted to it with the...
Hi All,
Just joined after perusing through multiple posts on the 6.5 TD where I could have sworn I was reading about our 1996 Suburban!!!
I have been armed with some great information and with a litttle break in the cold weather here in Philly I can start down the path.
Just replaced...
