Now 100% sure I've killed the stock gm4 turbo haha. Significantly down on power when towing, feels just slightly more powerful than the 82 6.2 diesel was. Turbo whistle isn't audible anymore either. Add to it, that's even with the wastegate wired shut. So decided to bite the bullet and order a...
Is a possibility. When I bought the 82 GMC with 6.2 diesel it's oil fill cap (doubles as the breather) had been replaced with a newer cap from a 6.5 (non vented). Engine originally leaked out of everything but the rear main seal. Swapped it to the correct cap and all the leaks stopped.
The air...
I did state it in the post. As for 9 years being enough time, took over 30 years from discovering fracking technology for the oilfield to figure out how to do it economically.
Also the tangent on biodiesel from algae was about their overall emissions. I hadn't brought up the volume issues which can be addressed, at a certain cost. But public opinion and government regulations want clean appearing fuel source. Electric and hydrogen are the 2 that fit the clean...
Correction $2, typo on my part before.
Conspiracy no, wastewater as the nutrient supply for the algae wasn't considered until about 9 years ago in Brazil. Brought up by scientists looking for a economical way to clean their wastewater since most of it isn't.
If you had researched to the level...
Yep, government has more than enough power to do the wrong things to get what they want. Right now they are pushing for things that appear clean, regardless whether it is or not.
Can either bitch and moan about the problems and get ****ed as things fail because of government regulations and...
Yep grid has problems with the renewable energy options along with the constantly tightening of emission requirements on on coal/gas plants. As mentioned by Toyota and others the grid cannot expand to meet demand from electric vehicles. The failure in Texas during the storm is mostly from Ercot...
Highly close minded statements there, recommend doing some real research into it. ALL forms of energy get significant subsidies from the US government, including petroleum.
All forms of energy and fuel production use a limited resource, question is which uses the least amount of limited...
The batteries in EV's are far worse environmentally than diesel or gas when measured over their real lifespan when it comes to lithium ion type batts. They are not recycled or living to their rated lifespan. Tesla's new litium iron hasn't been tested for that yet and doesn't use as much rare...
When towing I am either near 12,000 or 26,000 lbs combined weight, so the 95 3500HD makes sense. Plus it can carry on the bed what a smaller truck could tow.
Empty driving though a small diesel pickup is what I would like to have.
On the 3500HD's the factory front tank should be about 20 gallon, rear 32 (mine only has the rear).
Sounds like the issue isn't the tanks themselves, but a fuel quality problem (contaminated with water). Is that more accurate?
If so, what changes have been done to the fuel filter setup or is...
Lol not saying I'm going that way if I do get the Canyon. The 3500hd has lifetime registration and covers my heavier towing and soon lifting requirements. Only problem with it that can't be reasonably addressed is being a regular cab.
Even with the new gin pole bed the HD will have 6-7,000 lbs...
Interesting to find on these. Familiar with the small 5th wheel campers before, looks like these trucks are handling them well according to the owners.
Yea this wouldn't be happening quite yet, 1st priority is debt free then doing the main stuff to the 3500hd.
Considered a newer 3/4 or 1 ton to essentially replace the hd and stay with just 1 vehicle, but the emissions equipment would be an issue along with the price tag. When I tow it tends...
Thats what I figured you were asking.
Car doesn't work for me the same way that the motorcycle as the daily had problems, dirty cargo. Muddy, things that are grease covered, etc.
That and my driveway, no car is getting up it even if I get it paved. The approach angle is too steep.
With the older medium duty truck covering the heavy tow rig requirements I'm thinking about getting a Canyon with the 2.8. Crew cab, 4x4 to cover daily driving, some offroad, and maybe occasional light towing.
Not really interested in the 1/2 ton market.
