As for the non-flow on fail pump situation. for a failsafe "get you home" kinda thing you might consider adding a couple of tee's one before and one after the LP with a hose and a shut-off valve in the middle. keep it turned off but when your out on the road and no where near a place to get parts or repair. just reach under there and turn the valve open to allow the IP to suck fuel and get you somewhere safe.

I know doing this will add more places for a leak or air intrusion if not kept up with, but may save you $$ on a towing bill in the future. cheap insurance for the cost of a little more to maintain.


On the engine running situation, I know you said there wasn't any codes, but many of us have ran into the issue of when you relocate the PMD that we forget that the resistor is inside the connector of the factory PMD and gets missed when relocating and with replacement PMD's I voted to place my resistor in the extension harness at the IP so I would never forget about it! is there any chance you might be missing that resistor?

For a ground, you can use anything convenient to the IP Harness... the intake manifold bolts will do. After checking the extended harness, if there's an anomaly, check the harness at the IP. That will confirm or deny the extended harness' reliability. Check pins/blades to ensure they're straight too. Easy to bend 'em, especially the aftermarket ones.

I have the extended harness from QST and that ground wire from the terminal connector is entirely too short.
I carefully, using the same tyoe and gauge of wire, spliced into that ground wire and extended it about eight or ten inches.
Now that IP harness plug is accessible out beyond the sides of the intake manifold.
I do not understand why that ground wire would need to be so short ? I guess mainly because if a person kept the PMD in the PMD original location then it would not need to be any longer, but, with our extended PMD harnesses, that plug with that short wire is a PIA to get to, and, I have two spare drivers behind the front bumper and running on another.
Simplified. 👍😹😹😹

Similar on The 1994 in frigid temperatures. It took me forever to figure it out. There's a thread here someplace. I think it was glagulator that gave me the bits of information that got.me on the right track.
I just saw the same information posted a day or 2 ago, on testing the wires for voltage on the extension harness.

Turned out one pin in the IP harness wasn't making connection with the extension harness. I tried several harnesses. I was checking everything for continuity and decided to make a short T harness to check for voltage coming.back from the PMD.

I used a short harness from when we used to mount the PMD on the intake.

That harness made connection and the truck started at the hit of the key. It was only another 5 minutes or so until I found the pin that wasn't making connection on the other harnesses.
Swapped out the IP harmess and was good to go.
