R.A.G.S
I like outdoor activities, camping, 4x4ing, bird watching, walks, and have a burning ambition to see Australia in my 4x4 towing a caravan with the Mrs.
I also enjoy wood turning, welding (well learning anyway) and spray painting.
I spend too much time at home these days and not enough time out exploring.
Better understand the 6.5L Optimizer Engine I have invested heavily in.
Signature
2015 Nissan Patrol Y61 at 165,000 km's (March 2019) replaced 3.0L CRD (ZD30) with 6.5L Optimizer, Cooked that engine after only 52,000 km's (March 2020) dry fuel went through injectors, Pistons, bearings etc replaced, cylinders honed, engine rebuilt and then lasted another 50,000 km's (September 2021) before the main pulley/harmonic balancer separated, replaced same then shortly after the engine developed a knock that was only identifiable inside the car (too much engine noise to distinguish it from the engine bay) this seem to be intermittent based on hot or cold engine, then just got worse until last oil change at 4000km's (since previous oil change) discovered metal fragments in oil pan.
The engine has not been stripped down yet but an engine recon guy locally believes best educated guess is needle bearings from lifters are the cause.
I am not a diesel mechanic, I would say I'm relatively switched on but never gonna work on engines like most people I've seen posts from here
